Cascade Hills Country Club – Grand Rapids, MI

Cascade Hills Country Club in Grand Rapids, MI worked with Snider Recreation to design a play structure that would meet the needs of their members. The installation location was near the Country Club’s swimming pool, so they opted for a poured rubber playground surface.

Poured Rubber Surfacing is a great option near pools

The play structure pulls in some FUN equipment while getting the kids on the move! They will be balancing across the Sky Pods, racing down the Rock’n Roll and Spiral slides and spinning away on the Fierce Cyclone spinner.

The playground and surfacing installation came out pretty as a picture and was completed in plenty of time for the Country Club to get the pool area ready for the busy summer season.

Snider Recreation designed a new playground for North Spenser Schools’ Nancy Hanks Elementary. The structure has the students on the move and has a capacity for over 100 students.

Double Viper Slide
Swift Glider

The structure is bookended with slides. On one end you will find the Double Viper Slide that’s filled with twists and turns, the other end you will find a Swift Glider. Whether you’re shimming your way up, or gliding down the skinny slide, the students will be on the move! The slides are joined together by climbers and overhead equipment that will challenge the students balance, strength and motor skills.  For the students who like to spin, there are 2 Fierce Cyclone Spinners attached to the structure!

Fierce Cyclone: challenges students to utilize their strength and coordination. It helps with the development of kinesthetic awareness as well as focus on proper posture.

Snider Recreation loves bringing the FUN into recess by installing play equipment for schools!  Students always love recess, but with this new play structure, their Fun just got a whole lot more active!

Climbers provide several developmental benefits to children, building upper body strength along with boosting balance and coordination while they play.

Dynamic Pad Link: challenges students to move from one playground deck to the other by building balance and strength while increasing self-confidence.
Athletic Arch: Students are always looking to reach higher, climb further, and reach the summit. Monkey bars have long been a playground equipment favorite, but Burke has reinvented the monkey bars, and we’ve designed some Overhead Events that will keep kids entertained and in shape including pull-up rings and horizontal ladders.

James Day Park-Parma, OH

All-Kids Playground at James Day Park – Parma, OH

All children deserve to have playtime and space, however, children with disabilities are not always able to enjoy playgrounds especially when they are cumbersome, not fully accessible, or too far from home.

Snider Recreation worked with the All-Kids Playground organization to design an all-inclusive playground that creates an environment where a child’s physical health, emotional well-being, and development of life skills are met as they learn and grow through play. The need for the playground was immediate, Jeff Snider made sure that the design could be broken into phases, with each phase focusing in on enhancing the inclusion and addressing the needs of children with all abilities. Snider Recreation made sure that the playground would look complete at the end of each phase. This playground is an inviting place that accommodates mobility devices, play structures, and activity areas.

Design

Council President Sean Brennan spearheaded the legislation to donate the property to the non-profit organization, located at James Day Park (formally Nike Park) in Parma, Ohio.  Phase One was completed with a supervised installation. Snider Recreation supervised volunteers from the community.  Mickey Vittardi, director of parks and recreation, jumped in with his department, and they helped with the construction and installation of the equipment.

The idea for the playground came from a teacher listening to the concerns of local parents with special needs children, Tamara Tomasello, and numerous other parents, professionals and teens from the community, joined forces to try to raise dollars to create the All Kids Playground, a playground designed to allow children with and without disabilities to play side by side with peers and siblings. “This will be for all children, not just for children with special needs, but for all children to get along and play together. It will be a pleasant place for families from all over to interact.” Tomasello said.
